Information for Parents
Our vision is to learn in a happy, caring and interesting environment,
where all the children and adults can have fun while recognising and achieving their full potential.
Free! Fun! Childcare for 2 year old children!
Evidence shows that good quality childcare for 2 year old children provides real benefits in terms of children’s early language skills, physical, social and emotional development which will benefit them in later life.
If your child is 2 before the 31st December 2016, find out if you could be entitled to up to 15 hours of free childcare for your 2 year old child from January 2017 by visiting www.northumberland.gov.uk/freechildcare or calling 01670 623592.
30 hours Free Childcare for 3 and 4 year old children!
This extra funding is to support working parents to manage the cost of childcare; support parents into work and/or allow parents to increase their hours, should they wish to.
If your child is 3 before the 31st August 2017, find out if you could be entitled to up to 30 hours of free childcare from September 2017 by visiting www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

Leave of Absence Request
Permission for children’s absence during term-time should always be sought by parents by completing a Leave of Absence Form in advance.
Permission is given at the discretion of the Headteacher and will only be forthcoming in exceptional circumstances; these will not include family holidays or trips out, but may include attendance at family occasions or circumstances involving health issues (this is not a definitive list and each application will be considered in its own right).
Absence from School
If your child is absent from school for any reason, please fill in the Absence Return Form on his/her return to school.
Free School Meals
These are available to people who are classed as unemployed and receiving a qualifying benefit.
Free School Meals should be applied for even if your Reception/Year 1/Year 2 child is having a free school meal as part of the Universal Free School Meals Scheme.
However, they are not automatically available, as an application needs to be completed and returned to the school or free school meal office at County Hall. An application cannot be made retrospectively as the process is a set criterion and there is no appeals process.
If a child attends school, or the parent/guardian resides, in Northumberland, the applicant can apply to Northumberland local authority for free school meals.
Refunds for free school meals are only made in exceptional circumstances. These are handled on an individual basis by the school.
There are 3 ways to apply:
- Apply for FREE school meals online
- Ask school office for an application form - 01669 630234
- Telephone the FSM Office - 01670 623592
Paper applications can be returned upon completion to:
Northumberland County Council
Benefit details for applications can be checked on receipt. However, if confirmation cannot be found, you will be contacted to provide proof of benefit.
